Putin may declare war on Ukraine, Zelensky's taunt - Forgot the lesson of Second World War
It has been more than two months since the Russia-Ukraine war. However, Russia has so far been calling it a special operation. US officials believe that now Russia can formally declare war on Ukraine on 9 May.
Russia celebrates May 9 every year as Victory Day. It was on this day in 1945 that Russia defeated Hitler's Nazi army during the Second World War. Russian President Vladimir Putin may declare war on this day to achieve a military breakthrough in Ukraine.
Zelensky takes a dig at the Russian Foreign Minister
On the other hand, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has taken a jibe at the Russian Foreign Minister, saying that he has forgotten all the lessons of the Second World War. In fact, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov compared Zelensky to German dictator Adolf Hitler in the past.
Lavrov said that Hitler and Zelensky were both Nazis and had Jewish blood. Israel had also expressed displeasure over this statement. The Israeli foreign minister called the statement a "disgraceful and historical mistake".
Major Updates of the Russia-Ukraine War
Britain's prime minister has promised to send military aid of $375 million to Ukraine.
Britain will send electronic warfare equipment and a counter-battery radar system to Ukraine.
With the support of the UN and the Red Cross, the process of evacuating the people trapped in Mariupol will continue even today.
